Fume cupboard test

Ventilation equipment such as fume cupboards or safety cabinets are essential components of laboratories in research and industry. Legislation requires employers to provide proof of the functionality of a fume cupboard as part of a risk analysis. We not only have the appropriate equipment, but also the necessary experience, which is in demand worldwide, to carry out such safety-relevant ventilation tests. Our range of services includes type testing in our own laboratory under ideal conditions. Such testing is an essential prerequisite for the responsible planning of a laboratory. In addition, we also test already installed fume cupboards on site and, depending on the measured values, provide suggestions for improvements in design and handling. As a member of the association of testing laboratories for fume cupboards in the DIN Technical Standards Committee for Laboratory Equipment (FNLa), we work independently for various manufacturers throughout Europe.

Type examination

Ventilation type testing of fume cupboards requires a conformity assessment by an independent body in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17000:2005.

We carry out such tests in our specially equipped test laboratory.

Thanks to our active involvement in the standards committee, we can guarantee that our tests in accordance with EN 14175 Parts 3, 6 and 7 and ASHRAE-110 are always up to date.

On-site inspection

We not only have the appropriate equipment for air testing of fume cupboards in a real environment, but our range of services also covers the entire spectrum from simple, regular testing in accordance with laboratory guidelines to the acceptance of custom-made products in accordance with EN 14175-4.

Thanks to our many years of experience in the ventilation testing of fume cupboards for customers worldwide, we are always in a position to make any necessary suggestions for improvement. In this way, we can support both the client in the construction of new laboratories and the equipment suppliers in the handover and acceptance of new laboratory equipment.

Flow visualization

The visualization of air flows with artificial fog is of great importance in order to understand the flow and to detect weak points. Depending on the speed of the air, different forms of fog must be used. We will help you with the selection and support you in setting up a test rig (e.g. with laser light sectioning).
